Keepmoat Homes Annual Report 2021

Annual Report and financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2021.

PEOPLE AND OUR CULTURE

PEOPLE AND OUR CULTURE Apprentices, trainees and graduates We are proud to be a member of the 5% Club, which means we are committed to at least 5% of our employees being apprentices or trainees in ‘earn and learn’ positions across all functions within the business or through our subcontractors and partners. We were delighted to achieve Gold status earlier this year. This approach supports our skilled teams, addresses skills shortages and opens this very important sector as a great career opportunity. We launched our Land and Partnerships Graduate Scheme during the year and successfully recruited a very strong cohort. The programme has been a great success and we will continue to invest in the future of our business and the industry by expanding our graduate program to other specialisms with the launch of a Commercial Graduate Scheme this year. 40 KEEPMOAT.COM

STRATEGIC REPORT Diversity and equality We are keen to encourage diversity, as the house building industry is not known for being the most diverse or gender equal sector and there is often a lack of candidates from diverse backgrounds for some roles. We have a number of females in senior leadership roles and our approach to identifying and developing our talent underpins our focus in this important area. However, there is still more to do and as a company we take the role of promoting the industry to potential candidates who might not have considered a career in our sector very seriously. We work closely with education providers and community groups to profile the variety of roles available. We also focus on being family friendly, with later start times for meetings to support people with children for example. Our Agile Working Policy supported our people with working remotely at home and in different locations during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to make a significant contribution to helping us to successfully steer the business through this period of unprecedented challenges. Disability statement The Group is committed to achieving a balanced and diverse workforce and pursues an equal opportunities policy through all areas including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance reviews, succession planning, promotion and ultimately, retirement. It is our policy to ensure employee related decisions are made based on merit and capability regardless of religion, race, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age or disability. If any of our people become disabled, the Group is committed to continue employment wherever possible and to undertake the necessary adjustments to facilitate ongoing employment. Modern Slavery Act 2015 The Group has a policy statement in accordance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our policy sets out the processes and practices that we have implemented, to ensure that modern slavery has no place to survive within our business, or within our supply chain. We monitor the effectiveness and review the implementation of this policy, regularly considering its suitability, adequacy and effectiveness. Most of our supply chain partners have their own policies in place covering modern slavery, antibribery and corruption, equal opportunities, health and safety and environmental factors. Where a partner does not have their own policy in place, they are requested to ensure compliance with ours. 94% of subcontract spend is with externally accredited organisations that have taken steps to assess and manage risks of exploitation in their business.
